This is a Group designed for beginners to begin to understand and play pickleball. It will also provide a safe space for novices or others who may have been playing for some time and are at times struggling to keep up with more experienced players.
Pickleball is a popular sport that’s easy to pick up and very social. It’s often described as a mix of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, which makes it feel familiar even to people who’ve never played it before.
The game is played on a badminton court with a low net. Players use solid paddles and a lightweight plastic ball with small holes. Because the court is compact and the equipment is simple, pickleball doesn’t require great strength or speed, making it accessible to a wide range of ages and fitness levels.
What really sets pickleball apart is its friendly, inclusive feel. Rallies tend to be longer and more controlled than in tennis, which encourages cooperation, placement, and quick reactions rather than raw power. Doubles play is especially common, and games often have a relaxed, chatty atmosphere.
Pickleball has grown rapidly because it offers good exercise without being overly strenuous, and because it’s easy to play casually or competitively. Many people enjoy it as a social activity as much as a sport — a fun way to stay active, learn something new, and meet others in the process.
All equipment is provided.
Our aim is to try to help all members develop their skills and confidence.
Please contact the Group Leader (see above) if interested.
